Boohoo submits plans for its new Leicester factory

Boohoo has submitted plans for a new factory and warehouse in Leicester, on the site of an old car showroom on Thurmaston Lane.

According to the planning proposals, submitted by design firm architecture:m to the city council, the development aims to ‘rejuvenate’ the disused site and ‘restore and promote’ Leicester’s reputation as a textile manufacturing leader.

It will create more jobs – at least 100 it says, and improve the skills, of the people currently work in Leicester’s clothing and textile businesses.

While Boohoo’s proposed onsite education centre will provide industry led educational programs, a gallery to display for local student works, and meeting space for the local community.

Under the plans, the existing building will be split into three major sections, including office and research, manufacture and quality control, and warehouse storage.

Next to this, they intend to build a new 1,475 square metre office and warehouse.

The application is pending decision.
