Clear lack of understanding around EU data reforms

An independent survey commissioned by the Information
Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has found a clear lack of understanding around the
proposed EU data reforms. Of the 506 businesses surveyed, 82 per cent were
unable to quantify their current spending on data protection. The survey also
highlighted that 40 per cent of respondents don’t have accurate knowledge of the
10 provisions-including explicit consent and the right to be forgotten-considered
in the draft regulation. The survey called for further research in order to
clarify important issues.
