The Co-operative Food convenience store chain is to accept Apple Pay at its 11,800 till points from 14th July. This will make Co-op the largest retailer to offer Apply Pay. Consumer research which The Co-op had commissioned showed that shoppers themselves predict the demise of cash by 2020 with most (65 per cent) believing that they will be using their ‘phones for daily purchases in ships. A third from the survey also said that they felt that paying via their ‘phones was more secure than carrying a wallet containing cash and/or cards.
