M&S launches autism friendly range

Marks & Spencer has responded to product development campaign findings and produced a range of schoolwear specifically designed for children on the autistic spectrum who have difficulty in dressing. The “Easy Wear” collection includes discreetly placed velcro in place of buttons and pull up trousers which were designed in consultation with professionals who work with autistic children and the National Autistic Society.

“More than one in a hundred people are autistic in the UK – that’s around 120,000 school age children – and they deserve to have the same choices as everyone else,” said Mark Lever, chief executive of the National Autistic Society.
