Movers and shakers–January 2013

Marshalls Seeds has confirmed that Martin
Harvey, who was at the helm for six years, is stepping
down as managing director. He is succeeded by Frank
Keenan, formerly category director at Play.com.
Announcing the departure, Marshalls chairman Edward
Conroy said Harvey had done an “outstanding job in
the last six years, trebling sales, providing exceptional
leadership and developing a stable business model”. Harvey
will retain an interest in the business for the immediate
future.

Aamir Ahmad is stepping down as managing
director of multichannel furniture retailer Dwell following the
company’s recent expansion and private equity investment. The
funding sees current investor Key Capital Partners, which
initially invested £5 million in 2010, take a majority stake
in the business. Ahmad, who founded the company in 2003, hands
the reins over to Rebecca Cotterell, formerly
chief executive of Adams Childrenswear and British Shoe
Corporation. He retains a significant financial interest in the
business. In related news, Helen Marsh has left
her position as PR manager at Dwell to head up PR for
Heal’s.

Vestiaire Collective, the preowned luxury-fashion website, has
appointed Sarah Bush, formerly senior director
for Europe at fashion shopping site ShopStyle, in the newly
created role of UK marketing director.

Karen Millen announced two changes to its senior management team
with the appointments of Becky Bateman, formerly
retail director at Fat Face, as retail director for the UK &
Ireland and Pilar LaCave, formerly global retail
operations development manager at Diesel, as retail director for
Europe.

Fairtrade organisation Traidcraft has announced its chief
executive Paul Chandler is to leave at the end
of March. Mags Vaughan currently Traidcraft’s
business director, is made acting chief executive from April 2013
until a new chief executive is appointed.

Expolink Europe appointed Hilary Shepherd, who
previously headed up the client services team at an international
contact centre outsourcing business in Bristol, as its new
contact centre sales manager.

Ecommerce agency Metakinetic has bolstered its search marketing
team with the appointment of Emily Ridley, who
joined the team full-time at the beginning of November after
starting as a marketing intern in June. She will work on both PPC
and SEO projects for Metakinetic’s eCommerce clients.

Mark Evans, the former creative director at Littlewoods
parent company Shop Direct Group has joined design and
communications business Photolink Creative Group as retail
futures director to refine its UK and international design and
photography offer.

Asendia, the joint venture equally owned by Swiss Post and La
Poste, named Frederic Petton, previously
managing director of La Poste UK, as chief executive officer of
Asendia UK. Petton is now part of a new nine-strong management
board at Asendia UK, comprising Paul Taylor, deputy chief
executive and chief financial officer; Ian
Kavanagh, deputy chief executive and director of value
added services; Mick O’Dell, commercial
director; Lloyd Webber, marketing and sales
director; Nick Frazer, director wholesale;
Rebecca Owen, director value added services;
Rolf Fleig, operations director, transport and
distribution and Clare Wheeler, HR
director.

Kimberley Evans has joined data specialist
Abacus as senior marketing executive.
