Movers and shakers–September 2009

David Inglis has left Shop Direct, where he
was group trading director. A spokesperson said that as his
role “no longer exists”, he will not be directly
replaced. James Brown is promoted to product director until a
new management structure is in place.

Flying Brands promoted Tony Grodecki to
managing director of its entertainment division. He was
previously managing director of the company’s Benham collectibles
business.

David Walmsley, head of web selling
and customer services at John Lewis, is to join DSGi as
eCommerce director in October.

The Hut Group is continuing to build its team with the
appointment of Simon Parker as operations
director and Markus Bhatia as head of film and
TV.

Abel & Cole confirmed that managing director Duncan
Gibson left the business to “pursue personal
ventures”. Executive chairman Stephen Richards has stepped
in to run the company as chief executive.

Karen Jones joined ASOS.com as a nonexecutive
director. Jones is founder and chairman of Food & Fuel, the
operator of eight gastropubs and two cafe bars in London.
