New Look takes a fall

New Look is the latest in a swathe of retailers placing some of the blame for poor trading on the distractions caused in the run up to Brexit for lacklustre results. Sales for the first quarter fell to £354.2 million, a drop of 4.2 per cent but, at least, online sales rose – up 9 per cent from its own sites and by 28.7 per cent via third party sites. The business is now focused on its latest investment via JD.com in the Chinese market where it has opened nine new stores bringing its total there to 94.

Meanwhile, UK customers are being offered a one-hour timed delivery option via DPD. This will enable customers to choose a convenient one hour delivery slot between 11am and 5pm at any time to suit them across the seven days following an online purchase. The service, DPD Precise is new to the market and to date only ASOS is using it.
