Total annual sales at Marks & Spencer rose 0.4
per cent, to £9.06 billion for the year ended 28th March. UK
like-for-like sales fell 5.9 per cent, however, and operating
profit plunged 29.4 per cent, to £768.9 million. Direct sales
grew to £324 million, the web sales up 34 per cent.

UK online sales in April rose 14 per cent from last year,
according to the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index. But they
were down 2 per cent from March.
