News roundup—3rd July 2008

Germany-based cataloguer Neckermann.de is making 500
of its 5,000 employees redundant as part of a restructuring to
help the company return to profitability by 2010, reports
Forbes. The company also plans to reduce
inventories and expand its international operations.

Every little bit helps when it comes to the environment…
which is why Corporate Express has added two box sizes to
its packaging options. “The new box sizes help us reduce
packaging, without having to cut boxes and recycle the extra
packaging waste,” explained
logistics director Don Baston. “The new sizes also reduce
the cube fill of our delivery vehicles, allowing us to fit more
boxes onto each vehicle.”
