The catalogue/online division of Mothercare was “particularly
strong” during the year ended 29th March. Year-over-year
direct sales increased nearly 107 per cent. Granted, much of that
was due to the company’s acquisition last year of Early
Learning Centre (ELC), but even excluding ELC, direct sales
increased by almost 20 per cent. Total UK sales for the year were up
36 per cent from the previous fiscal year, while total revenue
rose 35 per cent, and 4.5 per cent on a like-for-like basis.

Fashion brand Stella McCartney has launched an eCommerce
site, but only in the US for now. A UK launch is planned for
autumn, however.

Over in the States, multibrand catalogue and printing firm
Taylor Corp. has agreed to buy and continue
operating bankrupt gifts cataloguer Lillian Vernon.
Taylor’s Current USA division is paying approximately
$15.8 million for Lillian Vernon.

A website that bills itself as “a one-stop solution
for self-build, DIY, electrical and plumbing solutions,”
TradingDepot.co.uk has launched today. The company’s
initial product offering consists of more than 7,500 SKUs,
fulfilled from a warehouse of more than 30,000 sq ft.
