Electrocomponents, the parent company of b-to-b
cataloguer RS Components has named Keith Reville as its new
general manager of eCommerce. Reville’s appointment said group
chief executive Ian Mason in a statement, will help
Electrocomponents reach its target of deriving 70 per cent of its
total revenues from online sales “sooner rather than
later”.

Online jeweller Astley Clarke is venturing into
the retail space with a concession in Harrods. The launch
coincides with the brand’s unveiling at Harrods’ online store in
mid-November.

ASOS.com has unveiled its French and
German-language websites. The two sites offer the same choice of
800 brands and 40,000 products as on the UK site, as well as free
returns on all orders.

US-based consumer electronics retailer Best Buy
has launched its UK transactional website. Best Buy already has
UK stores, in Essex, Southampton, the West Midlands, Liverpool,
Croydon, and Derby. In addition it plans to open stores in
Bristol, Nottingham, Enfield, Rotherham and Hayes in 2011.
According to analysts at Seymour Pierce, however, Best Buy UK is
expected to make annual EBIT losses of up to £55 million,
compared with a previously anticipated loss of no more than
£45 million.

Business software and systems provider Oracle is
buy eCommerce services providers ATG for
approximately $1 billion (£615.7 million).
