News roundup–My-wardrobe, Topps Tiles, more

Online luxury fashion retailer My-wardrobe.com
has appointed Nicola Copping, formerly Financial Times deputy
fashion & beauty editor and most recently editor at
Harrods.com, as editor-in-chief and Joanna
Stephenson, formerly senior online marketing manager at
Debenhams, as Trading Director. They will both
report to David Worby who joined my-wardrobe.com as chief
executive officer in July.

Tile specialist Topps Tiles in the 52 week
period ending 29 September 2012, prior to entering its close
period, has traded positively. The London Stock Exchange reports that as a
result of the group trading well in the final quarter, with
revenues expected to increase by 3.7 per cent on a like-for-like
basis, revenues for the 52 week period are set to be in the
region of £177 million, up from £175.5 million in 2011,
with like-for-like revenues expected to show a decrease of 1
per cent on the previous year. Pre-tax profit for the 52 week
period is set to be in line with consensus.

The
Financial Times
says that office supplies, furniture and
technology retailer Staples’ restructuring plan
was met with a dreary response. The piece compares it to other
struggling retailers Best Buy,
Gap and Sears.

The Telegraph reports that Marks &
Spencer is planning to open 28 bank branches by the end
of the year as its first current accounts go live this
week.
