Worldstores founder Joe Murray and Richard Tucker are featured in a Telegraph article, which notes that “a quick delivery time and a huge amount of choice have helped the company grow from nothing to a turnover of £60 million over the past five years”. The next step is a public listing, possibly within the next two years.

On Monday, we covered the news that Boden fans were unhappy with the cataloguer’s choice of model. Today, Johnnie Boden defends his choice in the
Telegraph: “I don’t want to sound pompous, but this fuss isn’t any big deal. We used Helena [Christensen] because she’s an attractive model who makes our clothes look great, and there have been many more positive than negative comments.”

As part of its drive to strengthen its multichannel strategy, sofa retailer DFS is relaunching its website on the Salmon eCommerce platform. With a number of existing suppliers and systems already in place, the DFS brief specified a need for a platform provider that could provide a wide range of services and who had experience of working with multiple third parties.

Luxury fashion house Chanel has acquired cashmere specialist Barrie Knitwear. Part of the Dawson International Group, Barrie Knitwear went
into administration in August 2012 following a failure of the parent company to come to an agreement with the pension regulator and the Pension Protection Fund to deal with a significant deficit in its pension scheme.

The GMB union is holding a demonstration outside the Next store in Havant, Hampshire tomorrow to support the call for the retailer to increase the wage for its lowest-paid employees from the minimum wage to £7.20 an hour. According to the union, Next is among the “worst offenders in the retail sector for low pay and high profits-and there is a link between the two”. This is the fourth demonstration by GMB members since September.

Allan Leighton, the former chief executive of Asda has been named chairman at apparel retailer Matalan, reports the FT.

Greenstone Data Solutions has completed its full integration with TCP Marketing Solutions LLP (TCPMS), following its acquisition of the business. With immediate effect, TCP Marketing Solutions becomes part of Greenstone Data solutions. TCPMS’ managing partner, Julian Berry, remains with the business.
