One iota launch Apple Pay on the web

Leading retail technology specialist One iota integrated Apple Pay on the web into its commerce platform, MESH, enabling clients to provide a seamless checkout process – in time for last
week’s UK launch.

One iota was one of the first technology providers to be involved in last summer’s UK launch of Apple Pay on mobile, and this new web-based payment method will complement the iOS mobile payment solution already being used by many of One iota’s clients.

Apple Pay currently provides an easy and secure way to pay for goods and services within iOS apps. As of last week, UK retailers are able to integrate Apple Pay into iOS apps and now websites in Safari as a checkout option, drastically simplifying the multi-step process that often stands between a customer and a transaction completion. By using Touch ID or double-tapping an Apple Watch, users can quickly and securely provide their payment, shipping, and contact information to check out with just one touch, regardless of channel -increasing sales on both mobile and desktop.

The UK launch of Apple Pay on the web will be welcome news for retailers, who report that whilst many shoppers prefer to make their purchases on a desktop, they often abandon baskets when it comes to entering payment details. Apple Pay will both reduce this friction and increase sales.

Paul Aspden, client solutions director at One iota said: “One iota is delighted to be playing a pivotal role in the integration of this latest addition to Apple Pay. For the past few months, we have been working hard on this exciting project to integrate Apple Pay into our browser-based shopping experiences – ensuring a seamless transition to Apple Pay on the web. Our design and development teams have invested a significant amount of UX/UI and development time to deliver a frictionless checkout for customers.
