Press Release – Prism DM – Feb 2015

The continued success of Prism has prompted its opening of an
additional distribution centre in the Midlands, to ensure that growth is
maintained and to accommodate their current clients’ increasing requirements. The Rushden site in Northants will significantly increase capacity for multi-client
operations with 12,000 racked pallet positions, bulk storage areas in a modern high
standard depot, with 24/7 manned security. The Rushden site offers a
comprehensive suite of services and special knowledge in the areas of eFulfilment,
Retail & Supply Chain, 3rd Party Logistics & Distribution. A highly experienced team with over a
combined 100 years’ experience of working in the logistics industry has been
recruited ahead of opening the facility which has already attracted an
impressive client list.

‘This was a strategic decision in keeping with Prism’s
stated strategy to be the supplier of choice for multi-channel retailers for
complete end-to-end solutions for both software and physical services. We
needed to allow for future growth and we are there for the long term’ says
founder director Mike Thom. ‘Despite the development of ground breaking
cross-dock process models to get the most out of our Farnborough space, we knew
we had to take a big step to be able to expand further.’

There are also plans for specialist operations for
retailers, such as bulk break of supplier deliveries and initial store
allocations before forwarding balances to the clients’ own warehouse. These services
will complement and extend Prism’s established offerings of B2C and B2B
fulfilment.

Prism DM’s own WMS system will be deployed to ensure clients
with stock at either site will have a single view of their inventory at all
times. The system will be continuously enhanced by Prism’s in-house development
team.

Prism,
in recent times, has become the
logistics partner of choice for a number of innovative food companies, one of
which is an Irish company with a large UK based business, called Lavida
Food. Lavida specialises in gluten free,
natural and organic products and was recently named NBTY (Holland and Barrett)
Free From Foods Supplier of the Year, 2015. It distributes some amazing world
wide brands including leading USA company
Bob’s Red Mill and also the exciting organic pure bean pasta range from
Explore Asian. Due to the organic nature of these products, it was important
for Lavida’s business that it’s warehousing partner operated a food grade warehouse
of the highest standard as well as an Organic certified warehouse with the
technology to track products all the way
through the supply chain.
