Sweaty Betty grows sales

Upmarket women’s athleisure brand Sweaty Betty increased its revenues by 18 per cent to £56.6 million for the year to 31st December 2018. Having invested heavily in its website and new stores during the year, it posted a pre-tax loss of £710,000. Now operating over 60 stores in the UK and overseas, it now plans to open its first store in Asia in order to test the waters for greater expansion in the region.

CEO Julia Strauss commented: “We are mindful of economic and political uncertainty, but shoppers don’t seem to be holding back on fitness-related spending. We see ongoing growth in the activewear sector as people increasingly concentrate on health and wellbeing.”
