Tesco removes bonus to implement pay rise

Shop and warehouse staff at Tesco are to receive a 10.45 per cent increase in their basis pay in lieu of the current 3.5 per cent annual bonus. This means that the new Tesco rate of £9 per hour match those of Asda and Lidl and is higher than Morrisons. However, Tesco’s AGM this week is likely to bring the remuneration package for CEO Dave Lewis under the spotlight due his having been paid a £1.6 million bonus whilst the business was planning to place 9000 jobs under review.

Lewis is expected to be asked to lead by example.
