Travis Perkins reports improved sales

Travis Perkins has reported a strong quarter for its Toolstation and Wickes fascias. Toolstation like for like sales rose by 19.1 per cent for the quarter to 31st March as a result of an expanded number of stores, a new website and new online ranges. It will open a further 60 stores this year and has also outlined plans to expand in Europe. Over at Wickes, like for like sales were up by 10.5 per cent with growth coming from DIY, bathroom and kitchen departments. It had picked up sales from a competitor which had abandoned its design and installation services for consumers.

In the wider Travis Perkins business, like for like sales had increased by 7.3 per cent.

John Carter, Travis Perkins CEO commented: “Toolstation continues to grow extremely well, driven by network expansion and existing stores maturing. Wickes posted encouraging sales growth figures in both core DIY and showroom categories, demonstrating a strong turnaround in kitchen and bathroom performance.
