Wolseley in radical re-organisation

Building products supplier Wolseley UK is set to implement a raft of changes to its operations which are expected to lead to around 800 redundancies as it closes up to 80 of its regional branches. The business is planning to invest £100 million as it introduces major efficiency improvements to allow it to compete and deliver better service to its trade customers. This will see it close one of its regional distribution centre hubs in order to be able to operate more cost effectively. The changes to staffing levels will not be immediate as the business expects the full re-organisation to take up to three years and it will enter into consultation with affected employees as plans are confirmed. Wolseley has a total of 6000 UK employees working across 750 branches and its current five distribution centres including the one in Worcester which is earmarked for closure.
