Alibaba enters partnership with Bailian

Alibaba Group Holdings and Bailian Group, a leading Chinese retail conglomerate have entered into an agreement in which they will explore new opportunities for a co-operation between their businesses. The businesses will leverage big data assets to achieve integration between online stores, merchandise, logistics and payment tools with the goal of elevating efficiency and improving the overall customer experience.  This will span new retail outlet design to incorporate real-time ordering systems for customers in physical stores, new R&D in retail technology development including AI, IoT and big data. In addition CRM initiatives which will integrate both companies’ customer data to enhance customer service delivery and development of logistics operations.

Bailian will adopt Alipay in all of its stores whilst Bailian’s payment tools Safepass and Bailian OK Card will be integrated with Alipay to provide a unified third party payment solution for consumers.

Bailian Group is a leading state-owned enterprise in Shanghai. It has operations in more than 200 Chinese cities with 47,000 outlets and 68,000 employees. Launched in 2016, Balian’s omnichannel platform bl.com and iBailian app has grown quickly, leveraging Bailian’s membership base of 21 million.
