Bis Henderson Space secures COVID-19 relief storage deal for NEXT with Clipper Logistics

Warehouse space strategist, Bis Henderson Space, has successfully sourced significant garments-on-hangers (GoH) relief storage for high street fashion retail brand NEXT. The deal secures storage for up to 10,000 linear metres of rail at Clipper Logistics’ warehouse in Derbyshire.

The 12-month contract provides extra storage capacity for the retailer’s in-bound supply chain, following disruption to seasonal sales brought about by the abrupt closure of high street stores under the COVID-19 lockdown.

Commenting on the need for a fast response to the emergency national lockdown James Grier Group IT and warehouse projects director at NEXT, says: “Bis Henderson Space offered us a number of options for solving our requirement for additional storage. Together we selected the Clipper Logistics GOH facility. The Clipper team have responded brilliantly to seamlessly provide the additional storage we needed. Fast response, smooth operation, no problems.”

Steve Purvis, operations director at Bis Henderson Space, says: “Due to the urgency of the situation, we were working to a tight time-line – from start to go-live in just over two weeks. Clipper Logistics had the GoH capacity that NEXT was looking for alongside the operational capability and they were highly responsive in getting a deal together for a deadline of 4th May. I’m delighted to say that everything came together on-time.”

Carl Moore chief commercial officer at Clipper Logistics, says: “When Bis Henderson Space approached us, we knew that we had the capacity that NEXT required at our Derbyshire facility and an excellent flexible team ready to respond to the challenge. At Clipper, we pride ourselves on our agility in responding to the needs of retailers to support their business whatever the circumstances. The current unprecedented situation has seen many retailers with challenges they never envisaged within their supply chains. We are delighted to be able to support Next to navigate through this difficult period.”
