Boohoo has reportedly acquired a site on Thurmaston Lane in Leicester with a view to creating a 27,000 sq.ft. manufacturing centre.
The online retailer had apparently completed the deal prior to the media exposure concerning the unlawful management conduct of certain garment manufacturing facilities in Leicester. Boohoo has denied having had any knowledge that Leicester firms it was using were underpaying workers or breaching Covid-19 safe working requirements. A localised lockdown was ordered in Leicester on June 30th following a spike in coronavirus cases linked to rogue factories.
