B&Q to re-open selected stores

DIY chain B&Q has moved to re-open fourteen of its stores in a trial as it aims to support its customers during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Its entire chain has remained closed to customers since 24th March and it has since offered a click & collect service for customers able to access and place orders on its website. This has resulted in lengthy queues to use the website during what is one of the busiest periods for DIY, exacerbated by customers looking for something constructive to occupy themselves with during the lockdown.

The trial which includes stores in Cardiff, York, Paisley, Plymouth and Watford has seen social distancing controls applied, as well as a move to contactless payment only, with customers able to purchase stock items from the shelves. Click & Collect has been temporarily suspended at the stores included in this trial.
