Nick Glynne’s Buy It Direct business is reported to have made a cash bid for the brand and website of Maplin. Administrators PwC had been trying to find a buyer for the electronics retail chain of 200 stores but without success. Buy It Now proposes to relaunch the Maplin website and create jobs for a small number of former Maplin employees. The Maplin site would sit alongside Buy It Direct’s Laptops Direct and Furniture 123 businesses which generated sales of £146m last year.
