Confident Q1 for Pet at Home Group Plc

Pets at Home Group Plc has reported like-for-like growth of 4.1 per cent for its first quarter to 17th July 2014. During the period it had continued to extend its website functionality and increased its online range to 9,800 SKUs. It began to roll out its Deliver to Store (Click & Collect) service which it says will be fully operational across all of its 349 stores in August.  Commenting on the results, Nick Wood, chief executive said “We are pleased with the start to our financial year, with first quarter like-for-like growth of 4.1 per cent. Our differentiated offering in the pet retail market, an increasingly seamless approach to omnichannel, and growing customer participation in our VIP loyalty programme continues to drive strong returns.”

During the quarter, it opened 10 new stores, 16 veterinary practices, plus 19 Groom Rooms and saw its “VIP Club” loyalty scheme grow membership numbers to 2.4 million.
