Direct Golf celebrates Open week with £500k giveaway


Direct Golf UK, Europe’sleading multi-channel specialist golf retailer, has announced a £500,000-plus giveaway to customers as part of its exciting plans to celebrate this month’s 144th Open Championship at St. Andrews.

Golf fans are set to head to the Home of Golf and the world-famous Old Course in their hundreds of thousands, and Britain’s favourite golf retailer will be offering an array of daily prizes – as well as the unmissable chance to be photographed on its iconic ‘Irons Throne’, based on the Games on Thrones.

Direct Golf’s enterprising team will be giving away 50,000 £10 gift cards to visitors in streets, pubs in and around the course throughout Open week.In addition, 60,000 complimentary packs of tees will also be on offer as well as the chance to win ten top-of-the-range TaylorMade R15 drivers and Odyssey putters and 1,000 Bridgestone ball courtesy of a ‘Golf in the Street’ competition – a putting contest in the middle of St Andrews.

Fans will also have the opportunity to check out Direct Golf’s unique ‘Iron Throne’ which will be appearing at a number of unnamed St Andrews venues throughout the championship, with the chance to take pictures and selfies and tweet to @DirectGolfuk – with the best picture winning a TaylorMade R15 driver.

John Andrew, a class AA PGA Fellow professional who founded Direct Golf in 1991, said: “We wanted to do something extra special this year with The Open returning to St. Andrews.

“Not only will everyone attending have the chance to take advantage of some fantastic giveaways and prizes throughout the week but they can also enjoy our unique iron throne which has received a fantastic reception since we unveiled it.
