Dunelm recommences online trading

Dunelm has recommenced online trading following a thorough process to ensure that its employees have a safe environment in which to work, which follows guidance on social distancing and hygiene. CEO Nick Wilkinson, who has taken a 90 per cent pay cut to help weather the impact of Covid-19 on Dunelm’s business said that early signs were that demand was going to be strong.

Wilkinson commented: We remain focused on doing the right thing for our colleagues, customers and the communities where we operate, and I am pleased that we have safely re-opened our online operations.

“I am immensely grateful for the dedication and commitment of our colleagues and supplier partners who have demonstrated great agility and determination in a dynamic and unprecedented situation. Whilst many uncertainties remain, we have ensured that Dunelm and its many stakeholders will be well supported during this difficult period and are confident that we will emerge from this crisis as a stronger business ready to return to sustainable and profitable growth.”

Most of Dunelm’s retail staff have been furloughed, whilst contact centre employees are working from home.

The business was quick to respond to the NHS’ need for medical gowns and is producing them in its curtain manufacturing facility in Leicester.
