Dunstable-based The Electric Shop UK Ltd, which operates electricshop.com, has appointed KPMG as administrators. A spokesperson for the administrators told CEB that the company had cash flow problems and a statement by KPMG confirms that Electric Shop had “difficulties obtaining supplies”. Around 25 staff have been made redundant, though the spokesperson said the IT manager was being kept on for his knowledge of the website and systems. A buyer is being sought for the business and its assets, and the spokesperson confirmed there were a number of interested parties. Customers who have outstanding orders are being urged to contact their credit card issuers for refunds.
