John Lewis to permanently shutter 8 stores

Whilst pressing on with its re-opening of a further nine stores post lockdown, John Lewis has confirmed that eight stores will not be re-opening. The locations closing are its travel outlets at Heathrow and St Pancras, department stores in Birmingham and Watford, plus four At Home shops in Croydon, Newbury, Swindon and Tamworth.

Around 1300 jobs are expected to go as a result of the closures, with affected staff offered transfers where feasible to other group stores including Waitrose or to its online division.
