News roundup–Iceland relaunches online shopping service, more

Iceland is due to relaunch its online shopping service in early 2013 and will begin trialling the service from January. Iceland was the first supermarket to offer internet shopping, back in 1999, and although it was marginally profitable, it was axed in 2005 as part of owner Malcolm Walker’s drive to simplify the near-bankrupt business on his return after four years away.

Robert Bready, product director at ASOS, has sparked rumours he’s planning to leave the business after selling his entire shareholding in the online apparel store. ASOS has so far denied the rumours, reports the Mail’s This is Money column.

DVD distributor Acorn Media has signed an exclusive deal with Radio Times to provide the magazine with DVDs for all of its reader offers and promotions. Acorn won the account following the demise of Radio Times’ previous supplier Choices earlier this year.

Burberry came under fire from Mary Portas on Twitter last night following the Guardian’s cries of hypocrisy. Burberry is said to trade on its “pride in Britishness” but most of its clothes are made in China, notes the comment piece.
