News roundup–WeddingsOnline takes stake in Confetti, more


Dublin-headquartered WeddingsOnline, an online
community and supplier directory of wedding dresses, venues,
photographers, bands and videos, has acquired a 25 percent stake
in wedding-supplies website Confetti. The deal
sees WeddingsOnline directors Peter Bryans and Robert Truesdale
sit on the Confetti board. According to the Manchester Evening News, Confetti, which
employs 28 staff, expects revenues to reach £3 million this
year. Weddings Online, which employs 17 staff, projects a
turnover of £1.6 million for the year to October.

Apparel retailer All Saints has been acquired by
funds managed by Lion Capital and Goode Partners.

Following the launch of its mobile-optimised in November, IT
products retailer Maplin has released a shopping
app for the iPhone. As well as allowing customers to browse and
buy from a range of more than 15,000 products, it also uses
geolocation capabilities to help customers find their nearest
store.

After failing to secure a rescue deal, DIY retailer
Focus is due to call in the administrators
today, reports the Guardian.
