Portmeirion benefits from online sales growth

Portmeirion which owns brands including Royal Worcester, Spode, Wax Lyrical and Nambe has issued a statement saying that it expects its full-year revenues for 2020 to be ahead of expectations, reaching around £87 million. This follows a strong second half boosted by good levels of seasonal trading.

It has been hit by lockdowns which ate into expected retail sales but says that 47 per cent of its total UK and US sales are now coming through its online channels and that it expects to enjoy continued online growth in 2021.

CEO Mike Raybould said: “Although 2020 has been a challenging year and our sales markets have been significantly impacted by Covid-19, we are hugely encouraged by the resilience of our brands and most recently our strong seasonal sales performance.”
