Slingsby revamps catalogue to boost sales

Industrial equipment merchant Slingsby is banking on its
redesigned catalogue to help improve sales. The latest catalogue
contains 3,000 new lines, bringing the total number of products
carried to more than 35,000. The company has also improved page
layouts and its cross-referencing system to make it easier for
customers to find complementary products.

In a trading statement for the half-year to 30th June, Slingsby
said it only “marginally” increased turnover, from
£9.9 million in 2007 to £10.4 million. Pretax profit,
however, rose 13.8 per cent, to £826,000 from £726,000
last year. The company said that whilst it benefited from an
encouraging first quarter, second-quarter trading was much
tougher.
