Strong 3rd quarter for Travis Perkins

Strong 3rd quarter for Travis Perkins

A strong DIY market which was kickstarted during lockdown has continued to boost sales at Travis Perkins owned Wickes and Toolstation. The group has posted a 3.9 per cent lift in its sales on a like-for-like basis for the three months to 30 September, with September recording growth of eight per cent. Meanwhile, sales within its builders’ merchant business had fallen by 3.1 per cent reflecting its recent branch closures.

“We have reported a positive overall like-for-like sales performance in the quarter as our markets have continued to recover following the impact of the national lockdown earlier this year,” said Nick Roberts, Travis Perkins CEO adding “Whilst local trade activity has recovered well, our trade businesses continue to experience a lag in recovery from larger housebuilding and construction projects. However, there are signs of increasing workflow across these sectors as underlying demand strengthens as businesses have adapted to new and safe ways of working that enable them to keep sites open during periods of local lockdown.”
