New research of 239 of UK’s largest retailers has revealed
that they are meeting customers’ demands for a more joined-up experience across
stores and online. MICROS, a leading supplier of IT solutions for the
hospitality and retail sectors has released its finding in the 9th edition of
its MultiChannel Retail Delivery report. According to the research, 44 per cent
of retailers now offer click and collect options compared to only 21 per cent
in 2012, with department stores leading the way. Mirroring the click and collect
trend is the number of retailers with mobile optimised sites – up to 67 per
cent from 56 per cent. 80 per cent also had a mobile application with most
featuring a store locator as well as ordering facilities. The other key
development has been the emphasis on more dynamic delivery services with an
increase in rapid delivery options and extended cut-off times for next day
delivery. The full report can be accesed at https://reports.micros-ecommerce.com
