Following several months of speculation News UK confirmed
that it has acquired Handpicked Companies Ltd, the owner of The Handpicked
Collection which is an award winning upmarket online gifts business.
The acquisition of the seven year old niche business will
enable News UK to develop its publication offers proposition via The Times and
The Sunday Times – to a discerning and responsive readership. The Handpicked
Collection team, now headed by Will Miller, will continue to target existing
consumer markets as well as further develop it curated site of gifts and home
accessories as well as the fine food business MacGilvray which prompted the
launch of the Handpicked Foodstore in 2012.
