The cold weather, combined with an early Easter, dampened
sales at DIY specialist Wickes. Like-for-like sales declined 6.1 percent in the
four months ended 30th April. Parent company Travis Perkins says the impact on
first quarter sales is unlikely to be recovered in the remaining eight months
of the year, but that full-year earnings remain in line with expectations.
