Travis Perkins, the owner of Wickes and Toolstation, reports
that group revenue inched up 1.4 percent to £4.84 billion in the year ending
31st December. Adjusted operating profit was up 4.3 percent to £327 million
during the period. Sales expansion came primarily from the Toolstation
acquisition (completed in 2012) and the group’s subsequent investment in
opening a further 20 new branches. Growth also takes into account the full-year
effect of the 13 new Wickes stores opened in 2011. The upbeat results noted
that even in the tough DIY market, Travis Perkins’ consumer brands
“significantly outperformed”, with the Wickes, Tile Giant and Toolstation
businesses all producing excellent results.
