Third quarter results released for Sainsbury’s


Total sales for the third quarter at Sainsbury’s were up 3.3
percent, excluding fuel. The supermarket’s online business grew at over 15
percent during the 14 weeks to 5th January 2013. Chief execuitve Justin King
said the week before Christmas had been the company’s “strongest trading week
ever”. There was a record breaking £16 million of sales in one hour between
12pm and 1pm on Sunday 23rd December and the company’s best Christmas Eve saw
£100 million of sales.
