Another retailer experiencing record sales was department
store John Lewis, which in the five weeks to 29th December saw total sales hit
£684.8 million–a 14.8 percent increase compared with last year. Online sales
for the five weeks were 44.3 percent up on last year, with Johnlewis.com
delivering more than £800 million in sales during December. The online division
now accounts for a quarter of total sales.
