Halfords achieved sales of £939.7 million for the 52 weeks to March 28, delivering a pre-tax profit of £72.6 million. It had set out to reduce its headcount during the year as well as tighten management of its supply chain to improve stock availability. The business increased the working hours of its remaining staff and has invested in training in order to deliver better service. Cycling is now the largest part of its business with the current boom having delivered swathes of new customers
