The crash couldn’t have come at a worse time for Net-a-Porter, just a couple of days ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday which are two of the biggest online shopping days. Any downtime will be extremely costly and other retailers intending to offer flash sales should make sure they test their websites first to ensure they are able to cope with extra traffic. Our diagnostic tests also show that the Net-a-Porter pages are relatively large, at around 1.4MB. This too could have been addressed to help the site run smoothly during periods of increased traffic.
