Yodel service in turmoil

Yodel has issued its contract customers with a notice stating that collections are to be suspended until it can clear the backlog created by the strong demand from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Much as mooted, as far back as July, many carriers lack the capacity to cope with escalating volumes and smart retailers had been advised to ensure that they had contingency plans in  place in the event of any of the larger carriers withdrawing service.

In Yodel’s case it is making no collections today (11th December, or tomorrow) and does not expect nonmal service to resume until Monday. This has left a number of major retailers high and dry, unable to fulfil their promises to customers. It is understood that Marks & Spencer, Shop Direct and Amazon are among the businesses affected.
