Argos increases average basket by 400 per cent with on-card offer


UK cashback website, TopCashback, has launched its first
card-linked cashback offer with Argos. The partnership enables
TopCashback customers to receive cashback benefits on all card purchases made
in-store at Argos, with initial results yielding £1.2million worth of sales.

TopCashback customers can earn cashback on their in-store
card purchases at Argos, in addition to the existing online channel. The
On-Card offer platform is managed by Trusted Loyalty Partners for the cashback
site. The new platform has recently been launched onto the UK market by Trusted
Loyalty Partners, with Argos the first merchant partner to run a site-wide
offer to the full TopCashback member base of just under 4 million users.

The card-linked platformis
designed to connect merchants with subscribed member groups, in order to
offer benefit schemes suited to employee or loyalty promotions. Partnering
organisations are able to offer exclusive discounts or rewards to be used in
conjunction with the merchants to the subscribed member groups.

Argos’ cashback offer for TopCashback members was designed
to focus on three key areas. In addition to providing additional motive for
being a TopCashback customer, the scheme also set out to drive additional
traffic into Argos stores throughout the country while increasing the average
Argos basket spend. Additional focus was also put on attracting TopCashback
members into stores that had not previously shopped with Argos.

The offer, ‘5% cashback when you spend £50 or more
in-store’, ran from the 27th October 2014 – 25th December
2014 and to date, has generated results far beyond the expected returns.
In-store sales have reached a tally of £1.2m, with an average transaction value
that is nearly 5 times the normal spend. Further to this, more than two thirds
(68per cent) of TopCashback members
who participated in the offer had not previously engaged with Argos through
TopCashback before. TopCashback also noticed an increase in Argos traffic and
awareness online, with a noticeable positive impact to their online sales.
