BT buys EE for £12.5 billion


BT has agreed to pay £12.5 billion,  in a mix of cash and shares, for mobile network operator EE. Existing EE shareholders Deutsche Telekom and Orange will sell all of their holdings in EE but each will receive stakes in the new business.
