Record trading to its 2014 year end saw The Hut Group post a profit of £16 million on sales of £248 million. This, in turn, led to it topping the Sunday Times Profit Track 100 for the second consecutive year.
CEO Matt Moulding commented “Topping the Sunday Times Profit Track rankings for the second year running is a fantastic reward for the hard efforts from the team at The Hut. Due to the substantial investment made in the Group’s proprietary tech platform it has been possible to undertake rapid international expansion, with the majority of the Group’s sales now occurring outside the UK.” The Hut Group invested £15 million in 2014 further developing its technology and enabling it trade in 20 languages, shipping 13 million orders to 190 countries, which accounted for £113.3 million of its sales.
Private equity firm KKR acquired a 20 per cent stake in the business for £100 million last year enabling it to accelerate its plans for a new warehouse and manufacturing facilities in Warrington and pledge to create 2000 new jobs in three years.
