Cotton Traders buys Next’s stake


Bullish after a strong year’s trading, Cotton Traders’ founding directors Fran Cotton and Steve Smith have bought back the 33 per cent shareholding held by Next in their business.  Next has held the shares since 1997.

Cotton Traders which operates chain of stores and deploys catalogues, off the page advertising,  and digital marketing generated sales of £80.7 million from its on & offline channels  in the year to January 31st 2014. Customers are typically 50-75 years old and have proved to be strong adopters of online shopping. Cotton Traders’ online sales represented 50 per cent of its revenues during the year  with 46 per cent of those sales coming from tablet users and have been boosted by its loyalty programme “Priority Club”  and its click & collect service  The business is also making serious headway in Australia as well as in other international markets.
