Next has confirmed that, in common with other clothing retailers, its sales performance for the 60 days to 24 December was impacted by the unseasonably mild weather. However, the retailer stuck to its guns and did not succumb to offering discounts in the run-up to Christmas, instead of waiting until its clearance sale event which commenced on Boxing Day. Next Directory sales which cover both online and mobile channels grew by 2 per cent with retail sales down by 0.5 per cent over the same period of 2014. In the wake of these results, Next has revised its forecast for
full-year profit to £917 million which is higher than last year by approximately 4.4 per cent.
