Clarks has announced plans to reduce its head office staffing level by more than ten per cent as part of a move to become more competitive. Around 170 jobs are affected by the restructuring exercise. The manufacturer and retailer has been facing mounting competition which led to its sales for last year dropping by over 3 per cent. The business operates 300 stores in the UK and USA and also supplies other retailers in the UK and around the world, in addition to selling online.
