Profits soar at The Hut Group

Online retail group The Hut Group which has customers in over 190 countries, posted total annual sales of £501 million for the year to 31 December 2016. Of this, £316 million came from outside the UK via the business’ online brands which include Zavvi, Myprotein, Coggles and Preloved. During the year it had acquired GrowGorgeous, a premium haircare brand as well
as Skinstore.com which increased the third party brands it sells to over 750.

“In 2016 we launched over 100 websites across the Group, significantly expanding our international reach which was further highlighted by delivering international sales growth of 89 per cent,” said CEO Matthew Moulding. “We also continued our evolution of our health and beauty offering with the acquisitions including the prestigious Hale Country Club, proving us with the opportunity to develop a global centre of fitness and wellbeing excellence. Towards the end of 2016 we further expanded our presence in global nutrition with the acquisition of US based Ideal brands,” he added.

The Hut Group now employs 3100 people and expects to increase this by a further 3000 over the next two years. More recently it acquired Hangar Seven, a UK content creation business for video, photography and branding.
